These poems were written live.
Behind each one there is a face, a person, a being.
During six years I’ve written around 3500 portraits. I have been, alone or with the artists that joined me with their (un)disciplines, portraying people from the audience. We have seen and experienced 3500 persons in I don’t know anymore how many countries.
I keep in me their eyes, stories, souls, emotions, experiences.
A Written Portrait Session works like this:
A person from the audience sits in front of me. We don’t talk. I observe the person, I read the person. I translate the information I see and feel from this person into a concept. His or her gesture, mood, wrinkles, hands, eyes, whole presence, everything I am able to read. Then I get then a phrase, I build in my head a general concept. From this concept I think of an idea. And I write it down in a form of a poem, having in mind that now I am that person talking/writing, like if it was a theatrical game. I finish, I sign the poem, I give the paper to the person. The person stands up and the next one sits down immediately.
